I posted here at the start of the year seeking advice about getting sponsored after completing my Tier 5 visa.
A few people - not just from here - told me it'd be impossible especially because I only work in marketing, am under the supposed pay threshold, and not a shortage field. But I interviewed at as many places as I could manage from February to March and found a great organisation that was willing to sponsor me, even with all the associated solicitor and application costs!
It was HARD SLOG - eight months between the job offer and the day the visa cleared, nine for my actual departure date... but I did it, and will be on a plane over in just three weeks! I hope that by sharing this it'll motivate other people not to give up, either :)
I've seen a lot of people give anecdotal experience of things going their way which contradicts what people seem to have as gospel here.
It seems like it has become some sort of echo chamber in which people who have never even travelled abroad once parrot the same responses over and over.
There is always an easy way to getting out, earning a shortage skill degree, some experience and the native language, but people do succeed without these things.
It seems to me that the most important thing is just giving it a real attempt if you can afford it. The real world is a lot more flexible than this sub would have you believe.
