Hello everyone,
I am a licensed electronics engineer from the Philippines, graduating just before the pandemic hit. During the pandemic, I took up a role as a public high school teacher for a yearโa decision I regret as everything felt experimental and was conducted online. Realizing my passion and the better pay prospects, I shifted to software programming. I have been working as a software developer for the past 2.5 years and am currently bound by an employment contract until next year (another decision I regret due to the lengthy and unreasonable bond).
I am eager to leave the Philippines after my contract ends and am very interested in migrating to Europe. Currently, I'm considering Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK, as I believe there is demand for my skills in these countries. I'm fascinated by European culture and way of life and am particularly drawn to Germany's rich history, the Netherlands' people-centric design and bike culture, and the familiarity of the English language in the UK.
In my spare time, I have been learning German using Duolingo (I hope this isn't too funny). I find Dutch intriguing as well, given its similarities to German, and I admire Amsterdam's design and bike-friendly culture.
While I wait for my bond to finish, I want to prepare myself to increase my chances of migrating to Europe. I would love advice on:
- What steps should I take now to enhance my prospects of moving to Europe?
- Are there other countries in Europe that might be better for me to consider?
- As a Full Stack Developer specializing in Angular and .NET, how can I make myself more in-demand in the European job market?
Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
