As a new IT employee, how did you manage the stress of not knowing thing?

    Finishing up my second month at my first help desk job at an MSP. For my background I got the A  and Security  earlier this year after working at Best Buy for the last ten years with 5 of that being in Geek Squad (This was management and not hands on repair. I was still exposed to a lot of low level fixes, but nothing that I would say gave me any preparation for my help desk job. Most skills I am carrying over from that is very good customer service/soft skills). There have been a couple of issues that I have been able to figure out, but on average I am constantly having to ask for help with issues when facing them. I am trying to stay positive and reminding myself that I am only 2 months in, but I want to know how others have dealt with this in the past because I don’t do well with feeling like I am the anchor on the team. I am keeping notes religiously of anything that I do fix and updating the documentation when I can (which I must say is atrocious where I work. A lot of things written in short hands, old links, whole steps missing that I find out I need to do later etc.). The other issue I run into is that the right hand does not talk to the left here.  At our MSP it is the owner/boss, the level 2/project/engineer, and me in help desk. I am constantly running into issues where I have a problem and the other tech may not be here so I have to go to the boss and he will think things are setup one way, when in actuality the other tech set it up a complete different way. Example was today a user could not login to VPN because their credentials were not working. Took it as far as I could before asking for help from my boss. He said that it should be tied to his AD login and we go into to look to see what credentials we have on file and it is a local account. No where in the documentation does it say this or have this information. I have never had to look for the users in our VPN manager so I would not have been able to do that part on my own at least not with way more extensive research and I had a client on the phone at the time. 
At this point I know it is not my fault that the documentation is lacking or that there always seems to be some steps missing. I just want to know how others may have managed this in the past mentally. I try to take the last 30 minutes of every day to gather notes and compile the pieces so that if I run into similar issues I have my own notes and documentation in my own language, but I still leave with a headache from being anxious all day around weather or not I am picking things up the way I should. Each time I research something and believe I would have the answer I get “Well normally it would be that way but we do it XYZ” or “It should be hat way and I don’t know why it isn’t”. I am on a 3 month contract with potential for hire and I’ll hit my 90 day mark at the end of January which is adding a little bit of the stress to this as well. I have no gauge as to how I am doing and plan on going to my boss next Friday once the holidays have passed with some things that I think I am doing well and get some feedback from him on anything he has noticed that I can work on. Just tired of leaving every day completely drained and like I have learned nothing. I figured there were some other folks in this spot and maybe some veterans can give some tried and true advice. These IT subs on Reddit have been the holy grail for me making this transition and I appreciate everyone who posts here and gives their 2 cents from their own experiences.
