I have one and I put a decent amount of time into it, but I never post on there. Even when I was assistant manager at my old job. I know social networking in IT is bread and butter, and I honestly have no problem with doing it in person. I am not jumping up and down to, but I know how to handle myself in a professional capacity. It's just when I look on Linkdin it just looks like a bunch of people trying to make themselves look good and being a "pick me". Most post seem so non-genuine and smell off that "I'm posting this cause my boss said so or I work for a small company and I have to play the game". Just want to know how much people really take it into account and if there are those of you out there who have found that you can take it or leave it. I know there is sure to be both on either side, but it would be nice hearing the experiences of other folks. I only ask because the local IT company I really want to work for (Just got my A in March and Sec as of this week) seems to be very active on there. Need to know if I have to dust off my social media chops because as of right now I got rid of my Instagram, Facebook etc. ages ago.
