So I got a good job as PC Repair Tech at a mid sized hospital in a small city about 6 weeks ago. My employer considers it a tier 2 support role and the pay and work is pretty good. I feel like I am settling in pretty well. I have about two years experience working as a field tech and doing windows laptop deployments as contract work. Also have the Comptia A , Net and Sec , with an Associates in Electronics Technology from a pretty good technical college. I made the career change to IT late in life, I am now in my mid-40's.
So now I am exploring what skill do I want to learn next. Everywhere I look folks seem to say learn Python. So I got on Codecademy and try to start learning. Yeah, I think I hate it. I did some scripting in Powershell for one of my previous contacts and I did like that. Python just makes my head swim, I got stuck on loops and defining functions.
Here's the thing, I want to make the move into either a digital nomad job or one that allows me to travel frequently and comforatbly. What skill set should I develop to this end? Getting a few more certs seems like a good way for me to structure my learning and increase my earnings potential. However, I don't know what to study to move me towards my life goals. Any suggestions?
