Book recommendations for entry level general learning?

I'm going through the A which I know people have their own opinions about, however. I also want to just inundate myself with as much info about technology in general. Was wondering if there are any recommended books to learn about computers, networks, languages etc.
This is for a career transition. No formal schooling just very interested and rather obsessed with tech.
