Are there any recommended guides or home lab type projects that are useful in generating experience towards IT career jobs? Or, more specifically, what tools/applications/projects would be useful? I.E. - Setup Splunk in a VM (or on a Pi or something) to learn the basics with it, use XXX IPS/IDS and perform an attack and so on.
I'm coming from getting my A /Net /Sec and shortly will take ICDN1 and 2, however with my current career I have no opportunity to get practical experience unless it's within my house. The most exciting thing I currently have is a simple Plex server feeding up some content.
Appreciate any help.
