CCNA Worth taking for Entry Level

I recently got my A cert and was studying for my Net . However, one of my friends said its better to just study for the CCNA R&S and take the two exams before they change in February. I wanted to know if this is the best route for me. My main goal currently is to get some experience as I have never had an IT job (and Im hoping the CCNA cert will increase my chances of landing my first IT job) but the end goal is to get into PenTesting.
I'm a career changer if that helps.
