Hello All,
I am looking to change from Sales to IT as I absolutely hate my sales job. I am a recent Veteran and it was the first job I was offered and took it just to make some money. I have finally researched and found what I want to do, but have a few more questions on what Certs and what I should be looking for.
I would like to do IT/Cyber security work and have been looking at the following courses. I live just outside of NYC and I was looking at taking Per Scholas free IT Support or Cyber Security courses which gives you a CompTIA A & Network certs or Cyber Security gives you a CCNET cert. I have also seen I can just do a CompTIA A cert without taking a course. My question is also I have no IT background and I am looking to get my foot in the door with IT and then work my way over to security.
Should I be looking at taking a full course that teaches everything or just trying to get certs? I know I can also do the CCNET cert on its own as well.
What kind of certs will these jobs get me? I am also turning 30 in January, is that to late to start?
Thanks for all the help!
Edit: I already have a bachelors in history and looking to use GI bill for MBA in IT management within the next year. But just trying to get foot in door until I can get into school.
