Choice 1: stay where Iām at. 105k as a systems administrator. I enjoy the work but hate most people here. But I love the work itself. Potential for 10% bonus so maxes at 115.5k/yr
Choice 2: I can go back to my old job. Theyāll title me as an āIT Site Leadā although the job description says Iāll be managing system admins, network engineers, and helpdesk - so Iāll likely make my title on LinkedIn āIT Managerā. Love the people. The work is mediocre, no complaints - but the culture is amazing. I could show up an hour late every day and nobody would care as long as I get my work done on time. This one pays 100k with a potential for a 15k bonus. So $500 difference between the old and new. But I also get to purchase up to 25,000 of stock at a 15% discount each year, and if I sell it immediately after purchasing at the discounted rate thatās another 4.5k ish in profit, so this one really has the potential for me to make 119.5k/yr.
Context on why Iām looking to leave: I work for a franchise based company and weāre in the middle of changing our business model, weāre supposed to lose half of our franchises within the next two months and lose 75% of our revenue. Although im the only system admin Iām still worried I might get fired so they can find a cheaper one.
Edit: if I go back to my old job the description is the exact same as the previous manager I had theyāre just titling it as lead. He got promoted to Sr Manager within a year and a half, so there might be room for growth there. When he got promoted to sr manager he started receiving stock as a bonus yearly. I also get 2 weeks guaranteed PTO and unlimited manager approved PTO up to 2 months if I go back
