So, I've recently broken into the Data Analytics field! I do not have degree but I do have certifications and experience under my belt. I spoke to some other more experienced and employed DA individuals and they said I would mostly need a degree if I wanted to do management.
My question is I'm highly interested in going the SQL Developer route as my job has me working with SQL, Power BI & Tableau[which is a score cause hey on the job training ;) ]. I wanted to know if i NEEDED a degree to become a SQL Developer. I do not plan to go back to college and if I do it'll be for a very short period of time(a year to finish out an incomplete Associates that I'll switch to Information Technology or something similar).
How much experience in SQL would I need? (my 2nd optional question)
I know I'll need to know it very well to do the complex queries, big data analytics, etc, but I wanted to see if there's anyone here who switched to SQL Developer from another IT path or went to it without a college background (or one in a completely different field too might be similar).
TLDR:
Do I need a degree to become a SQL Developer if I get enough experience, add more SQL projects into my portfolio and get the best certifications to show that I know my SQL?
