Post Body

I am looking for recommendations on a free computer science program. I don’t care for certifications. My goal is to get a better fundamental understanding of information technology and computer systems and potentially see if there is an area I would like to specialize in.

All recommendations are welcome. I prefer free resources as there is so much available online and I would like to go at my own pace, but I am open to paid programs if they are relatively affordable, meet the above criteria and are highly recommended. Though if it is a paid program, I would like to obtain a certification as well.

I am aware of WGU, but am not interested in the program as I do not intend on attempting to complete a degree program in a term or even two. I do not have the time and rushing the program would not instill the information the way I need it to. Also, due to the number of resources available online for free, the cost of one-term is much more than I am willing to pay for this.

I am not saying the program is not worth it and everyone’s situation will vary, but I already have a job and years of experience. I am just looking to make myself more useful at work and see if anything catches my interest. My overall goal is to not rely on coworkers, Google and the good people of Reddit as much as I have and pay it forward when I get there.
