Does technical customer service count towards IT help desk.

More or less the title. I have a BS is computer science and did programing for 3 years only to find out I hate it as a career. I have about 5 years of sales from paying for college so i was offered a role as a technical customer service rep. The whole swap to IT is new so i’m still working on certifications and this would be to get my first real IT experience. I want to try and move into management ect later on in life and i see that it requires several years of Help desk. Would this count towards that? Thank you!
