I've been a good boy.. Since I was 18 years old & legally obligated to file taxes & have done so with 0 errors since then. Even with students loans spanning from 2012-2016 that would eat away at my refund each year.
Finally in '17, had a turn of luck, it happened, I paid my student loan off and was able to receive my tax refunds once again!
Fast forward to 2019...COVID time... No issues with getting my tax returns and yes I was beside myself when I heard about the difficulties others were having... It did however take me a year to receive an amendmened return, had to use a tax advocacy at which point it took her a whopping 2 weeks to have the check delivered to me. Those people are the true knights in armor!
Well here I am, it's March 17, 2021...checking my account for the sweet stimulus only to see the same numbers I had went to bed with.. Now here's where it gets muffed, my mother received her stimulus and his DOUBLE what she qualified for. Even calculating prior stimulus checks, they don't equal $2,800.
I digress...
My issues is that, like many, I filed 2020 TAXES 2/10 ACCEPTED 2/12, NO UPDATE PER USUAL.
I received my first stimulus the $1200 $500 in a papercheck, no second stimulus-had to claim it on taxes.
I received unemployment about $17,000 worth to be exact. (I was a restaurant manager for a Chili's and our establishment was forced to close for 3 months at which point, myself and a few others we furloughed. Ended up finding a better paying job before 2020 ended but that doesn't matter at this point.)
I understand that they are doing a tax break on unemployment up to $10,000 but wouldn't a computer be able to adjust to the corrected amount owed/due?
Another focal point is the third stimulus, how does anyone know which account it is going into? I can't even get passe the "not enough info" message on GMP (WMR is another nightmare). I am really disheartened by this entire situation. I am expecting nearly $12,000 on a tax return plus another $4,200 for the third stimulus.
Now I am by no means trying to "flex" my amounts actually having that much come back isn't good but when it's all tax credits, you can't help but to wonder what's going on...I had a baby 12/5/2020 and understand that the new baby can put a halt to the process but how much of a halt?
I requested transcripts via phone and opened them last week but as of 12/2020 N/A on file. I call but I guess they forgot to pay the phone bill..
I guess my question at hand is, has anyone gotten their stimulus or refund without either portal updating? Which account did the 3rd stimulus go into? Who else is in the dark?
I have BIG plans for my babies and I can't keep waiting on empty promises. I just need some guidance.. others experiences, insight, anything.
