So I have a child and have already filed my 2020 taxes, I accidentally didn’t actually claim him as a dependent but his name and social security number are on there. I have to amend them to claim him and get that tax credit for him, but the form isn’t available until the end of the month. Will I still get the $1400 for him since he’s listed on my return, or do they specifically have to be listed as a dependent? If I don’t get it at first but amend them what is the possibility I would get the stimulus money for him after the amended return is accepted? I’m just hoping I’m not SOL on this money until next filing season. Also the $300 a month child credit?
