Post Body

Since we've been getting a slew of Rand centric ILY eps...I can't help but feel fascinated with his character...because he seems really strict, proper with decent enough morals to indicate that he knows right from wrong.

But at the same time...

He treats Nol like utter crap ( Kou too, not even a birthday card )...even though it's clearly indicated that he likes people with Nol-like qualities....Resilient, self-righteous, out-spoken, hard-working, confident

I know being critical can be helpful at times to motivate someone to do better but Rand straight-up degrades Nol at every chance. It's no secret that Rand's behavior is uh not so nice towards his second son, Jayce and Sang-chul are completely aware...

In terms of Jayce, it's pretty clear he very much likes Nol, considering we've seen both of them vibing, Nol always treating him kindly, also Jayce went to extent of praising Nol, claiming he could catch-up to Kou's 13 years worth of work at any moment. So...I'm pretty sure he's confused to why Rand is so harsh against Nol.

Even Sang-chul feels confused to why Nol tis painted/given so much crap. He considered Nol "inept" but in work he is obviously seeing the opposite of that.

On the other hand, Rand still says "that he is not the best at work, his grades are not the best"

idk what Rand expects out of Nol....Because he's certainly *messing with Nol's mind*. Honestly I think he does it deliberately, based on the way he talks about his "morals", there's no way he does this subconsciously without understanding what he's doing is *actually* very harsh.

It's pretty clear he was trying to get a rise of Nol during the formal, going as far as to say " forget your friends "

but later on, he's the first one to urge Nol to meet up with his friend, being surprisingly thoughtful enough to bring his car/keys over

On the other hand, I think Nol is just following his father's footsteps because well...Nol still wants to be somewhat redeemed in the eyes of his father. So that means doing good at work, getting into a good school, not being a liability

Also based on the comparisons between Rand/Nol, I'm pretty sure people have pointed out that Nol looks like his father for his whole life. And considering, Nol doesn't have any particular aspirations, he's just going to keep working with the company until he ends up...somewhere?

Though, I do believe these days Nol may have inclinations/thoughts to get to Kou's position. I mean during that breakfast, Nol did drop the idea : "what if somebody else takes your position".

In the recent ep: Rand says he wants his son to take a good look at Kousuke, inspire him to stop *slacking* --> does he too want Nol to follow in Kou's footsteps

like why? You've pitting the brother's against one another from the beginning ( ironically he never tells Kou to be more like Nol in certain situations ( like etiquette lessons w/Shin-ae ) )

Both Yui and Rand have plans for each of their sons, both pushing them towards the same goal. In the end whoever wins is the question?

Basically if Nol decides to go sicko-mode and try to rise through the ranks, Rand will be very proud/happy. Until then he'll be really harsh, whatever will spring his child to finally stand-up for himself. He literally said he likes Shin-ae because he finally got to see a more "heroic" version of Nol. Idk he's setting himself to be the villain to his own son, that plan is definitely going to backfire lol.

idk most of this gibberish, let me know your thoughts
