I'm back with another post

I bet you all have heard at least once about the whole "prophecy" that Nol will leave, and.... to make it more dramatic....without telling Shin-ae ( oooh potential drama ). I'd like to just say right now, if Nol does end up just leaving out of the blue, that'd be really.....sad and honestly a little rude.

Back to the point....

I think there's several allusions to Nol leaving or even abandoning Shin-ae. Quimchee has used this stage direction too often, where Nol is walking off with his back turned while Shin-ae watches.

Have I made my point:

One thing is for sure, it would break Shin-ae's heart ( not in a romantic sense, let me explain ).

Shin-ae hasn't even moved on from Alyssa, her very first friend and the friend who later abandoned her. Till today, Shin-ae still manages to think about her, their first meeting and even fondly calling her "an old friend" to her dad.

Friendship is something Shin-ae treads cautiously, the only friends she had before Nol were the ones she made in 6th grade. After the whole Alyssa incident, Shin-ae didn't explore any new friendships. Basically what I'm saying is that Shin-ae is already traumatized from one friends abandoning her so she's sensitive to these types of things.

This girl needs a vacation for 2 months ( all expenses paid )

We are concerned

At the end of the day, a little voice in Shin-ae's head will always blame her for the people who left.

Maya's situation hurt her greatly as well, she didn't want to lose Maya as a friend

Now if Nol leaves without saying ANYTHING....that'll hurt her...really badly

Why?

- Shin-ae feels extremely comfortable around Nol to the point where she feels more herself around him than her own dad or Min-Hyuk. He's her safe space.

- He gave her uncle Iroh level advice when she was going through tough times --> She wants to give back, not just take --> this mindset will backfire on her because if he does leave without a word, she'll think she was just a burden to him.

But's that's low-key their dynamic

- She doesn't even comprehend the value he has on her life --> Although they don't meet each other too often, Nol certainly has a big influence on Shin-ae. He's a positive benefactor. With him gone it, her life will be a little lonelier.

- Even with constant virtual connection, she'll still miss her friend; you can see this with Min-Hyuk. Up until his appearance, Shin-ae constantly missed his presence and his comfort. The moment Min-Hyuk came back...actually not even that ....the moment she heard Min-Hyuk was coming back, made her feel relaxed and happier.

Okay I'm gonna retract for bit

According to Quimchee Season 1 would have two time skips one after Min-Hyuk's party, picking back up during graduation then during college.

So it's in this season we will see them depart but simultaneously meet each other again ( actually I'm not sure about this )

If Nol does leave without saying anything, Shin-ae will probably try and reach out to him again, maybe even hunt him down. Still I think his positive impact on her will last and she'll come out as a more open and friendly person ( finally removing the aloof/unbreakable facade ) when she meets him again.

Random side note: Quimchee could use this opportunity to spin up the quintessential romantic trope where someone confesses right before they leave on a plane ( LMAO don't listen to me )
