Cannabis workers at RISE Dispensaries’ locations on Colorado Ave. and Rock Creek Blvd. are voting whether to strike after failing to come to an agreement on wages during union negotiations. Workers at the Joliet locations first voted to unionize in July 2022 with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. Workers are frustrated after RISE’s parent company, Green Thumb Industries, won’t agree to the Teamsters’ proposed increase in wages—even after boasting record breaking profits. Should workers vote to strike, it would come only days away from 4/20, one the busiest days of the year for dispensaries.
