So I work for a Events company that’s contracted by a premium hotel franchise.

Because I don’t work for the hotel and my clients are only there for events, I don’t have any responsibility to answer regular guests questions. Usually I do because they’re pretty easy questions (ie, where’s the bathroom) and I’m not a total douche.

Today I spent a lot of time running around ground fall, moving equipment around. I probably spent about two hours trying to locate small bolts one of my casual staff had lost and was in a pretty shitty mood.

As I was moving one of the last items of equipment I hear a lady scream “OI YOU THERE”. Obviously wasn’t one of my clients so I ignored it and kept walking. Get about 5 steps forward and I hear it again.

I turn to find Karen in this small lounge area and assumed this wasn’t going to be pretty boy was I correct. DWH = me KAZ = Karen.

KAZ: Are you deaf?

DWH: No, sorry just rushing. Can I help you with anything?

KAZ: Well I’ve been waiting for my room to be ready for four hours! When is it going to be ready?!?

DWH: Oh sorry, I don’t actually work for the hotel, I’m sure if you go down the the Lobby they can look that up for you.

KAZ: WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DONT WORK HERE?!? I’VE BEEN WATCHING YOU MOVE HOTEL THINGS FOR THE PAST HOUR, YOU PIECE OF SHIT

DWH: Whooah, okay well I’m actually contracted by the hot...

KAZ: - Cuts me off. I DONT WANT TO HEAR YOUR BULLSHIT. Now go find out when my room will be ready.

DWH: .. again, I don’t work here so I can’t help. But the lobby’s right over there and I’m sure someone will be happy to assist.

KAZ: I DONT WANT TO GO TO THE LOBBY IF I DID WHY THE FUCK DO YOU THINK I CALLED YOU OVER.

DWH: well you called over the wrong person, I’ve told you I don’t work here, I can’t help.

KAZ: Do you know how much money I spend here?! I want you to bring your manager down here NOW!

DWH: well unless you want to chat to my manager about hosting an event here he can’t help either.

KAZ: this is ridiculous!! I’m going to have you fired!

DWH: Cool, give it your best shot.

I then walked away as she’s was still yelling at me. She ended up filing a formal complaint about the interaction, myself and the hotel manager had a laugh about it and I wasn’t fired.

No I was not worried about getting fired. There is no legal way I could have in that situation.
