When my youngest was an infant, I had run over to Target to pick up some groceries - with the baby. Halfway through the shopping, she gets hungry, I pick her up, stick her on the boob, and continue shopping. I'm standing in an aisle, pondering the differences between shampoos when an elderly couple come up behind me and say "We need you to show us where (something or other) is."
It took a second for me to realize they were talking to me, but eventually I turned around and said "I'm sorry, what did you ask?"
Now at this point I'm facing them, with my baby clearly stuck under my rucked-up shirt hem.
Them: We need you to come show us where such-and-such is, we can't find it.
Me, slowly: I don't work here. But I think they're two aisles over.
Them: Oh. Thanks anyway!
Yes, I was wearing a red shirt in Target, but I was also wearing a baby and pushing a cart full of sundries. Maybe from the back I could see thinking I was an employee, but once I turned around? :shakes head:
