Well... not anymore.
Post Body

Hey all, just found this sub, I figured I would throw in this little story because I find it makes me chuckle.

The job I had before my current one(coincidentally also my first job ever) was at a chain Fastfood-Icecream-Grocery combination that is fairly localized to my state but has a few out of state places. It's my "Go to" rough spot job and have worked there 3 times and go there semi-often. So I have a good relationship with most of the managers and staff as well as being extremely knowledgeable about the goings on of the store.

So it was about 2 months ago. I go in during a rush and all of my favorite day shift workers are there along with a new person they have on the main lobby register(ohgodwhy).

Anyway I get up and order and the person forgets my drink so I just reach around the counter and grab my cup. I turn around and this lady is just glaring, I get a bit embarrassed(I had did it out of habit and didn't think about how strange it looked because I feel so comfortable there I kind have an "own the place" demeanor which set her off I suppose).

I go peruse the grocery side and some older lady is waiting to get a bag of ice, so I holler at one of the people I know who is standing kinda idle in the back to get her one though I'm not rude about it because the lady was kinda in a blind spot and everyone else was busy.

I go back to stand near the register waiting for my food and the newbie is having an issue finding something the glaring lady wanted. I overheard and guided them through it (once again nicely because I had done it for many a new employee in the past) and the chick in line seemed to lose it and was just like, "Do you even work here?"

I just kinda stood there for a sec, looked up and thought about it... Grinned and told her, "Well... not anymore." Just in time for my food to be handed to me by the manager on duty with a, "Here you go psyduckdontgiveafuck, have good day." I said goodbye to everyone behind the counter and left her seething in awkwardly placed contempt.

Edit- I'm glad so many people like this story, some other funny things have happened DURING my time at this store, but they are more suited for /r/talesfromretail
