I run the online video game RavenMUD. It's based on the open-source codebase, Circlemud, and has been running since around 1991 (though I am not the original game operator).
We accept absolutely no payment from our players (in compliance with the Circlemud license). However, a player wants to advertise our game to attract new players. If you would help us by creating an advertisement that we use, I will permanently add you to our list of credits. We will not financially profit in any way by you helping us.
The following is a description of what we came up with for an advertisement. You can, obviously, take creative liberties.
First, an image of King Xerxes the Mad in battle with a scrawny bunch of rag-tag adventurers. He's a major boss in RavenMUD. Here is his in-game description:
The thing standing before you may have been human once, but it's obvious this is no longer the case. He appears much like a perfectly proportioned human male, but his glowing emerald eyes and fanged smile betray a more sinister, demonic nature. Once a kind, benevolent man, it's quite clear the King is now wholly insane and unutterably evil.
King Xerxes the Mad is using: <worn on finger> a golden signet ring <worn as cloak> the cloak of infernal power <worn on body> royal robes <worn on head> a black mitre <wielded> the black mace of oblivion <held> the sceptre of ruling
Object descriptions:
The cloak of infernal power: The cloak is woven from dark cloth and has small ebon flames burning upon it. The flames don't give off any smoke or discernible heat and appear to in no way harm the cloak itself. The cloak radiates a sense of immense evil power, you wonder if the flames won't consume an unworthy wearer.
The scepter of ruling: A platinum rod studded with rubies, jacinths and black saphires, the sceptre's worth is beyond calculation.
Royal robes: The robes are splendidly made from purple cloth trimmed with the fur of a leopard.
Golden signet ring: Worked into the ring is a design depicting a crossed mace and sceptre.
Black mace of oblivion: The mace is formed of nothing less than total darkness. Some how, the darkness feels solid to the touch, althou icy cold.
Black Mitre: The mitre is of soft sable and has had tiny golden designs worked into it. The form of the symbols is difficult to gauge as even looking at them causes you pain, obviously they are of great power.
Second: A mage blasting Xerxes with a fireball-type spell. It should look uber-awesome.
Third: Overlaid on the image of Xerxes being blasted, the following text should be printed in a mono-spaced terminal-type font:
(teal text)Your fingers crackle with energy as you release a critical fireball! (orange text)You throw a fireball at King Xerxes the Mad and have the satisfaction of seeing him enveloped in flames!
(This is reminiscent of the actual gameplay. I can copy-paste the game from text to show you the particular shade of color used in this text)
Fourth and finally, the battle should image should blur away, and the text fade in: RavenMUD (smaller font)Live the Adventure! (even smaller font) www.ravenmud.com, ravenmud.com:6060
OR WHATEVER. I'm sure anything you create will look uber awesome, so take creative liberty.
This should be made in a standard website advertisement box size, such as the following:
117x38, 125x125, 234x60, 468x60, 300x250, 728x90,160x600 pixels (From https://www.projectwonderful.com/adtemplates.php) The maximum file size of any ad is 100Kb.
If you can cast it into multiple ad template sizes, that's super awesome, otherwise any one size will work.
BIG THANKS!!
