Flare ups - frequency, treatment and steroids
Post Body

Just wondering how often do you get flare ups? When you get them, do you do anything specific e.g. start a course of steroids or try to let them pass?

I've had UC for a few years now. Currently on Simponi but that doesn't appear to work so I'm planning to switch to Humira soon. I get a flare-up once every 6-12 months where I get loose/bloody stool and I tend to ask my local nurse to prescribe me a course of steroids. I'm wondering if that's common or do people try to let the flare-up pass them without doing anything different and hope they return back to 'normality'.
