Recently diagnosed with UC. Having trouble taking deep breaths.
Post Body

I was diagnosed with UC about 6 months ago. Before the diagnosis, I had all the usual symptoms: painful bowel movements, sudden urges to run to the restroom, etc. But another thing I noticed is that sometimes have difficulty breathing. To clarify, it's more like I often feel that I need to take a deep breath or yawn but I can't. I also noticed that I would get winded VERY easily. Like I get winded from walking for more than a few minutes.

Since the diagnosis, I've done a lot of research and one of the major changes I've made is cutting gluten out of my diet entirely. This has done wonders for me. Most of my previous symptoms are almost entirely non-existent. However, the urge to breathe deeply or yawn still happens fairly regularly and I still find myself getting winded very quickly after little or even no exercise.

Again, I have no problems drawing breath (this has been going on for around 3 years). But lately, I've been motivated to get into better shape, start eating better and exercising but getting winded so easily makes it difficult.

In all my research, I've not found any instance where this breathing issue appears to be related to UC but the breathing issues started around the same time as my UC symptoms (about 3 years ago) so I just naturally assumed there was some correlation.

So I guess my question is: has anyone else experienced this? If so, have you found some way to mitigate the issue? Is this even UC related?

Thanks in advance for any help. This community is really great. It's so nice to know there are people out there who know I'm going through.
