Hi all, just wanted to ask some questions as I'm a little I te dark about this and feeling a bit down at the moment. I am a 31 year old male and received my actual diagnosis this year for UC, although microscopically it didn't present as UC ok the colonoscopy. I've been symptomatic for 7 years but have never caught an active flare up, slow grinding gears of the NHS and lockdown etc.
I'm having a really bad flare up at the moment, 3 months and counting. I'm bleeding alot and have been consistently through out. I would say 4-8 bowl movements a day, but mostly it's the blood that's the issue, it's always blood and tiredness for me, makes me a bit slower but fine however this time not so fine and much more tired. Sometimes I think it's a trump but it's a really blood and fluid and it's just a bit grim. Sure you all understand.
So I am currently 4 weeks into Prednisone, first three weeks at 30 mg a day, now been moved up to 40 mg. I've got to say I can feel the side effects, I am having a hard time sleeping, my mood is variable,my appetite fir sex is through the floor. All the usual things, but the bleeding has got worse not better. My main symptom is always bleeding and chronic fatigue, I'm still dead on my feet and the bleeding is getting worse. Is this common? I've been told if no bleed stop by the coming Monday I'll be taken in as a patient. I assume for IV treatment. I kinda worried taking steroids, but thought the positive would outweigh the bad, I'm kinda finding no change for the better and wondered if other people had experienced this. My life is being ruined at the minute by this out break, im very active and I perform and I'm social but I've just been locked away and want this to end. really asap. I've had 5 extremely loose bloody bowl movements today, but the pain level is quite low overall. I don't experience intense pain as part of my symptons
Does anyone think I've not left enough time for the steroids to work before judging? do other people find thet calm symptoms quickly?
My FC read was up to 4k from 479 in febs out break. Any advice about treatment or iv treatment would be nice, I feel so alone in this, I am reading regularly, but would be nice to her from fellow suffers as I think it's easier to process an understabd than medical journals.
Thanks friends
