I’ve always been known to have an urgency when needing to go number 2, it’s a joke within my friend group. I just thought for a long time it’s who I was, maybe some mild IBS.
Maybe once or twice a month I’d have a bowel movement that caused me extreme discomfort (sweating, dizzy, nauseous, light headedness) I read about the vagus nerve thing and thought hey, we all have painful poops. 🤷🏼♀️
I had gastric sleeve surgery at the end of March, everything went well, I was passing everything like normal. Then a few weeks later I started experiencing diarrhea with urgency. Almost every time I ate I’d have to run. Its extremely watery, loud and frequent. After two weeks I had done all of the tests; cultures and parasites, abdo ultrasound X-ray CT to make sure stomach was ok.
The only thing that came back abnormal was some WBC (pus) in my stool test. No doctors mentioned anything about it, I’m just able to see my results online.
All of my blood work is normal, except my RBC is slightly high (probably from dehydration)
I’m now going at least 8-10 times daily, I’m feeling absolutely exhausted, fatigued, short of breath if I do anything other than lay down. I have a “painful poop” at least once every other day now.
It’s hard enough to get all of my fluids due to my new tiny stomach, and when I do get a bottle of water in, I’m peeing it out my butt 20 minutes later.
3 weeks ago I needed to go to ER for IV fluids because I almost fainted from being dehydrated. All of my tests came back normal. The bariatric clinic said this issue has nothing to do with my new stomach. But maybe it’s like a post-op flare up of a pre-existing condition?
I’ve tried going dairy free, gluten free, high fat free, even immodium doesn’t help.
Do any of these symptoms resonate with you guys? I feel alone, helpless, and it’s effecting my mental health. I feel like no one understands.
Until I have my colonoscopy done and get results, do you have any suggestions to help with potential relief?
Please let me know, thanks everyone. 🙏
