I wrote a children’s book about intellectual property. I am also an attorney, mom, sometimes-drummer, and former publicist. I also love pirates but not the kind who steal IP. AMA*

Hi, I’m Becki C. Lee. I am a percussionist-turned-publicist-turned-lawyer. I have two kids, two dogs, and one husband. My children’s book, Do You Draw Pictures?, just came out on Scarlet Oak Press. The book was inspired by my four-year-old son, who loves to point out trademarks on packaging and signs, and my two-year-old daughter, who loves old school rhyming books like Go Dog Go.

My hope with this book is that kids will absorb some tidbits of information about the basics of IP. There is a lot of misinformation about IP in the media and pop culture. Young creators and inventors and entrepreneurs need to understand this stuff before it ever becomes an issue in their lives, so why not start before they can even read? :)

I’m planning to turn this book into a series that spans all ages and relevant areas of law.

I’m on Twitter http://twitter.com/capnbecki and http://twitter.com/littlegavels.

Edit: I'm signing off for kiddo time. Will check back later, and hope to do this again someday. Thanks for the great questions, everyone!
