My short bio: Halito, Hola, & Hey-a! Thank you for having me today; I will attempt to provide enlightened--or at least witty--answers to your questions. I am of Choctaw (MCR), Chowanoke Nation, Mexicana, Scotch-Irish, & W. European ancestry. My role as the Director of Native Pathways Program at the Evergreen State College is newish, following 5 years with Northwest Indian College as the Nisqually Campus Manager & Faculty. I've been working in the education field for the past 20 years, 10 in higher academia. The more I am listening and working and collaborating in higher academia, the more I am convinced that indigenous pedagogy is the best practice for all students. "Full circle" is a loaded concept, and in my case means will higher education connect the mind, body, heart, and spirit to facilitate learning...? What do our indigenous histories tell us; what can we bring into the future? Looking forward to hearing from y'all!
