I almost bought light used Santa Fe from 2022 (17k miles) yesterday at AutoNation Toyota dealership yesterday. The car had 1 previous owner.
Upon concluding the deal the finance manager asked us if we want to buy extra 5 year insurance as the basic insurance (anything besides the powertrain) doesn't transfer to the second owner. This was completely opposite from what the salesman told us - 5 year / 60k miles on both power rain and anything else. We made a bit of a fuss as this was a deal breaker for us and exited the dealership. After 20 minute she called us back stating that the basic warranty would in fact work.
In the meantime we went to Hyundai dealership to confirm and they said that only the basic insurance transfer up to 5 years/60k but no power train warranty is transferable to the second owner.
It sounds a bit fishy to me - does anyone has any solid information on the warranty transfer process?
