HyperV service vmms.exe crashing during collection builds on RDS
Post Body

This has happened two months in a row now :( - I go to update a RD-VDI collection and one or more of the VM's will fail to update with some cryptic error like "unable to create a differencing disk"

On the hypervisor host where it occured on there's usually an error like this:

Faulting application name: vmms.exe, version:
10.0.17763.4010, time stamp: 0xd75f7842
Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 10.0.17763.3887, time stamp: 0x494079d6

Faulting package full name:
Faulting package-relative application ID:

This is a cluster of Windows Server 2019 servers on Poweredge R630 with a 2x E5-2620 and 384 gigs of ram each.

Anyone else run into this? Rolling restarts seem to solve it... Microsoft Enterprise support is a total waste of time on this.
