Please note that I have done a little dev work myself, but have had to take a break due to health problems, so I do have some knowledge on just what it takes to develop a game like this.
So after playing for a few days, I do like the game and can definently see the potential, there are just a few things that I am finding really annoying (like flying through the air spinning) and have a few recommendations.
A: Spinning car (serious issue):
This nearly put me into a seizure the first time it happened, no joke, so due to this and the lighting I would recommend maybe a seizure warning.
The spinning car problem is one that is known to occur with Unreal and vehicle usage, and one of the reasons I went with Unity for my projects, but after playing for a bit it appears that it could be a collision issue.
Good luck figuring it out (I never did), the "recall nearest vehicle"/"Un-Stuck" is ALMOST a good fix for when it happens. However I got stuck at one point with my vehicle up in the air and me on the ground. I did find that sometimes when pressing "Q", I ended up with the vehicle still in the air, while I was standing on it.
I would recommend:
When that button or the "Un-Stuck" is clicked, should have the vehicle motion (all 3 axis) set to 0.
Then have it pause for a 1/2 second before respawning on ground.
B: Additional items that would be good to have:
A smaller vehicle, something just big enough to hold a bucket and whatever you can put into it. Maybe a motorcycle with side car, for when you just need a quick run in to a town to get something you forgot.
A flatbed truck, something like this with nothing on the sides for objects to collide with. I have had much trouble just loading stuff into the back of the hydrotruck due to collissions with the sides. Plus I like to do "big" purchases at once and it gets tricky trying to get everything in.
A "recover everything not on property" option. Due to the problems with loading the hydrotruck, I now periodically run into random objects that have gone flying when trying to load. An option to recover everything that is not on the purchased land would help to clean up things/find lost objects.
A conveyer shredder that can cut down large pieces of gold/iron/shards. I spend more time unclogging things than I do building and I really like the building part of the game.
Modify the conveyer shredder where anything that runs through it (like large boulders) can not clump back together. It is annoying to setup a shredder, have it work, but then what you have go through it just clumps up togethr again when going up the vertical conveyer belt.
A vertical conveyer belt that goes down. This will give more options in setting up builds that currently have to rely on "gravity" for dropping things down and causes clumping/mis-alignment.
A "corner" (L-shape) conveyer belt with the water pipe also following the same direction. This will expand build possibilities and make turning corners easier.
Larger crucible opening and more stable setting on the small furnace. While the rocks inside are a good visual, it results in the crucible sometimes not sitting right. Keep the visual rocks, but perhaps a "clear" flat piece over them to keep the crucible standing straight.
A four way pipe piece.
A funnel with a grinder on bottom, that will allow things to feed through but chop them smaller as well. Would make gravity fed crucibles a bit easier.
A second set of conveyers, but slower than current. This can allow builds where you have multiple slow conveyers feeding to a faster conveyer system, while allowing for "control" of how fast things get put onto the faster system (resource control).
A "water tank". Some pipe builds have to be long (unless I am missing a water source) and you may not notice that the pressure tank has run out of shards. A water tank would allow "filling" when pipes coming out of it are "off" and then give water when turned on. Can also have this require shards.
A "deliver" options. Have an option for items you buy to be delivered to a specific area in each plot of land. Make it cost an additional fee (maybe shards?) for this option to be used.
Components to put together a vertical elevator. I like to build deep, end up using a lot of space just for wooden stairs and don't always lay out well. Building a straight up/down elevator can also allow for multi-level mines.
A easier way to refill the vehicles. While it is possible to build a "filling station", if you run out of water before you build this or while in-route somewhere, getting water in is a pain.
Just a few ideas, this ended up longer than I originally planned.
