Football rivalry poll found here

Hey folks,

As seen on the CFB subreddit, the B1G is discussing a 3 permanent rival rotation for football, with 5-6 teams rotated through the rest of the conference (playing every other conference member every other year). There was gnashing of teeth in that thread about the difficulty of such an arrangement, as it seems to be someone would be upset with the setup, no matter what conclusions they arrived at for matching.

I am curious if that needs to be so. I need your help to get data. More importantly, I only have a very small number of Huskers represented. As your school is relatively newer to the conference, it’s harder to figure out who you value as a rival (and vice versa), and so your input greatly matters.

I’ve made a ~5 minute poll regarding B1G conference football rivalries and sentiment. From this dataset, I will devise a few gameplay scenarios to determine optimal strategies for each school by different formats, and see if there’s anything common among them that we can predict. Among these are drafting methods, algorithmic solutions, and bidding strategies.

If everyone could fill it out, share it with friends, and share it with your school sports subreddits, I'd really appreciate it.

A little about me - I'm a PhD scientist, and love CFB/college sports. I was an insanely active Redditor on /r/CFB and /r/CollegeBasketball when I was at Michigan State (BS & BA 2015), though with a busier life came less use of Reddit. My preference is to casually comment on things until I find a (rare) project worth high-effort, and then put a lot of time into it. With that in mind, I made a splash some years ago by doing a conference affiliation realignment project, on /r/CFB, trying to predict how conferences would change with money...Few of my predictions were correct, but I learned a lot through it, particularly regarding the certainty of the assumptions I made to begin the project. Although I maintain they were reasonably sound, obviously they were too strong and directed the results in an incorrect direction.

Any suggestions, thoughts, and inputs are welcome in the comments below! I do not require collection of personal data, but you can optionally provide a Reddit username or email for me to contact you at the end of the poll. I'm happy to answer any questions below or by DM.

Thanks, /u/atchemey
