New Old Dog
Post Body

I just purchased a 9yo Deutsch Drahthaar from Gundog Central and have a shipping going to pick the dog up on Thursday. Below is the description of what his experience is, any advice on how to challenge the dog to learn where his baseline is? Also, what should I do for commands and having the dog learn to work with me as his new owner?

"Drathaar male, has very nice conformation and equally proportion and has nice thick dense flat coat. Hunted pheasants, ducks, geese, ruff grouse, and squirrels. The dog hunts methodically and always check back. Theres no need for shock collar; however, hes been collar conditioned. The dog also has been through the VDD tests scoring 68 for VJP and 182 for HZP. He is well obedient and handles very well to both hand signals and whistle calls. He has genuine and sweet temperament and gets along with other dogs and children well. This dog does not get along with any cats or birds. If you are looking for a hunting companion and does not have the time to train one, this is the one, hes worth every penny. Hés truly a well-rounded dog and health are cleared by parentage. His age does not stop him from hunting and still have lots of juices to hunt all day. "
