Hello-
I live in western WA and the timber area I have a key to has been over run by cougars, coyotes and bears. So this winter I want to get out and do some coyote/bobcat/cougar hunting.
I currently have a colt 6920LE M4. I will be hunting clear cuts and with a 16 inch barrel and that caliber I am concerned about effectively and ethically taking down a cougar at distance greater then 2-3 yards.
I am kicking around either getting a savage 110 or Ruger American predator rifle in 6.5 creedmoor or getting an 18 or 20 inch upper in 6.5 Grendel for my AR. Price point is about the same if I get upper from PSA. Trying to weight pros and cons. I like the idea of AR set up as I can put a 6x24 vortex scope on it and angle mount a red dot and if a cougar comes in close and surprises me I will be able to shoot more Rounds quicker. Hahaha. But at the same time I can get a new complete gun for close to the same price point.
Any insight or recommendations would be appreciated. On the fence. Thanks.
