First off, loved THG and Catching Fire, working on getting my hands on Mockingjay right now, and love the movie, but it ended up being more than enjoyment. The Hunger Games has acted as a type of catalyst for a way of thinking that I think I have been tying to achieve for awhile, but couldn't. I have been thinking about going out on a journey to survive in the wilderness after reading about Katniss' lifestyle of supporting her family's life through hunting. This isn't the first I've ever read about this, I've been a Boy Scout for about 10 years, wilderness survival, archery, rifle and shotgun merit badges, and when I was young I remember reading a book about a kid who went out and lived in the woods and trained a hawk or something like that, and thinking how cool that would be. I'm now learning about how to actually set traps and such and I really want to do something bold and new.
Another thing the movie did for me was open me up to whole new types of music. I freaking love War by The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble and I am now listening to brass and jazz that I would have NEVER listened to before THG, as well as actually listening to the score and feeling the emotions that music by itself can create.
Thank you Suzanne Collins, anyone involved in the making of the movie and anyone reading this.
TL;DR: Books and movie were awesome, made me think about life differently
