I'm from Oregon and applying to a job in Arcata that I'm really excited about. Without giving too many details about the job, it's a nationally-advertised position so it would be helpful to my application prospects if I can sell myself as having some regionally-specific expertise. Trouble is, my work focuses on OR and WA. Whenever I've been to Humboldt, it feels very similar to the Northwest. But does that feeling run both ways? Would it sound like a stretch to locals if I talk about "our region" or otherwise claim that my work in the PNW makes me suited to this position?
Thank you!
Edit: one difference I'm observing from the (rest of the) PNW -- if a Californian made a post in an Oregon sub asking for advice to move up, the response they'd get wouldn't have been nearly as friendly as the one you've given me!
