I volunteered at present drop off tonight for my local adopt-a-family program.
240 families (ranging from 2 to 10 people per family) were adopted. Each family made a wish list (usually 1 - 2 presents per kid along with an outfit or shoes and 1 present per adult) and then on top of the wish list, tomorrow they will go room to room and receive:
*coats, hats, gloves, and scarves for anyone who needs them
*1 - 2 books per kid (donated by our local library)
*an entire Christmas meal complete with a gift card to go get a meat of their choosing
This isn't including any walk-ins that happen in the next week: gift cards and stuffed animals are set aside for those people as well.
This was the first year that the number of people asking to help exceeded the number of people who needed help. They had to turn donors away.
Sorry for the poor quality, we were heading out and I didn't have time to get the book and coat room.
Half of the presents have already been distributed to the community, so that's only about 120 sets of presents.
