Slightly petty, but why does Hulu play the last one minute of an episode that you've watched before, rather than starting it from the beginning?

I've been binge rewatching Futurama, and I noticed this annoying trend where I select an episode, and it starts off in the last minute or so. Then I rewind to the beginning, watch the episode... and then the next episode auto plays the exact same way, from the very end of the episode.
