I tried Huel RTD and I must say that I LOVED it compared to normal Huel, much more palatable. Therefore I decided to make a fair economic comparison between the two with one condition: only consuming huel powder blended with other ingredients (berries/dark chocolate and oat milk) otherwise I don't like it enough to consume it everyday for breakfast.
Assumptions:
- I live in Austria so prices are referred to this country
- I don't have a blender so I will buy a new one from Amazon
- 50 grams of berries/dark chocolate goes into one Huel shake
- 400 mL of oat milk goes into one Huel shake
- 2 scoops of Huel per meal
- I consume one Huel meal per day
Prices:
- 1L oat milk is 1.69€
- 125g of berries is 1.89€ (chocolate has similar price)
- Current price of Huel powder (cheapest) is 1.29€ per meal
- Current price of Huel RTD (cheapest) is 3.28€ per meal
- Price of blender Breville VBL062 is 45.5€
Results:
- saving per meal = 0.56€
- total money saved annually = ~200€
- Return On Investment for the blender = 1.23%
- Payback time for the blender = 82 days
Conclusions:
In less than three months I would save enough money to repay the investment of the blender. I just hope this blended Huel recipe will taste as good as the RTD.
I know that it is obvious that the powder is cheaper but most of the people don't consider that you might add extra ingredients if you drink it as a shake, still you are gonna save a lot of money.
And of course if you consume more Huel the savings will be even more evident. Hope this post will help someone like me that was undecided between the two.

They haven't bought the blender yet or used the recipe yet. They are planning to.
