Finished my DIY Board today…🫶🏻
I’m using the app. I had a lot to rearrange last year. My wife wanted to paint a wall in the kitchen, so I thought I’d paint the living room as well. In the process, I decided to upgrade my rear speakers from the Ikea/Sonos table lamps to the ERA300. And that’s when the issues started. I later realized that while my TV had a 2.1 output (eARC to the soundbar), it didn’t have an additional input. No matter what I tried, I either didn’t get Atmos, or I had image dropouts, and so on. In the end, I ended up buying a new TV (Samsung 77S94C) and a new bigger Gradient TV Stripe (use the 75'version now - before it was the 65 because it was a 65' TV) because of the wall in the kitchen. That TV supports the app, and that saved me a lot of headaches, but is expensive with 130€ i guess.
The only downside is that turning the Ambilight on and off can only be done via the TV. I’d really like it if I could activate it through the HUE app, HomeAssistant, or HomeKit, instead of always having to switch to the app (when the auto-start doesn’t work again) while, for example, watching YouTube.
Speaking of YouTube. Since I watch about 80% of my content from internal sources like YouTube or satellite, the app is actually the better solution because there’s no way to sync those sources with the SyncBox.
