I am loving my new apartment but its lighting situation is quirky at best. Its a large space with 4 almost recessed lighting holes, one glass lamp thing in the center, and these two E12 wall things.
Frankly, I am so confused on what to do here. Many guides assume you can make any modification you want however in this case I am renting and cant make non easily undoable modifications. I am also not sure how long I will be here so I would rather stick with bulbs I can bring with me and use in the next one.
Mostly looking for ideas but had a few questions. Most likely I just don't know the terms I need to know to search for answers.
For the recessed lighting
The diameter of this is a bit over 6 inches which makes it incompatible with any of the Philips Hue recessed lighting things anyways... right?
Plus I have a huge bias to not buy 4 recessed lighting things as I am unlikely to need them in a future apartment.
So is there anything I can do here other than the raw bulb? The black baffle seems like it could be spring loaded and maybe removable but I don't know what that really opens up for. The white part seems steadily there. I would love to put some sort of diffuser on it. Can I just install one of these "trims" to diffuse it? Or is that bad because it puts the light in an enclosed space.
For the center "chandelier"
Honestly don't hate this one. If push comes to shove I am fine keeping this one as is. But I guess my question does the way this is set up open me to putting in other chandelier styles in? How do I know what is compatible? What might look more modern?
For the wall lights
These are what they are. I am going to try the filament bulbs to see if that dresses this up nicer.... Guessing there is nothing I can do here.
