A theory on the dangers of overconsumption of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) on metabolism. I found this interesting and in theme with the culture of self-improvement of this sub, if such posts are allowed

The link is to a theory on the dangers of overconsumption of PUFAs, aka seed oils (canola, sunflower, rapeseed, and others) due to their foreigness to our natural diets and therefore the maladaption of our mitochondria to burn them as fuel without some knock-on effects. The greater number of available bonds between atoms in PUFAs is what defines them from saturated fats, this also makes them much more unstable and susceptible to binding with other compounds to create oxidised compounds, my interpretation of what the author is hypothesising in the link is that these subsequent oxidised compounds may interfere with the mitochondria, and there is evidence to support this, for example. Furthermore, the author of this hypothesis makes the assumption that a diet high in protein may reduce our burning of PUFAs, which isn’t to say theres anything wrong with a high protein diets only when in combination with PUSAs, for example diets high in crisps, chips, processed foods with added sunflower oil or the addition of vegetable oil during your own cooking.

I found this to be a very novel and potentially important theory and wonder what people of here make of it.
