Who has experience obtaining plaintext password from hashes and can give guidance?
Post Body

Im having a couple of issue, this is what ive done so far. 1. Ive used samdump2 to get the hash using system and sam file. 2. I used john to "crack?" the hash. 3. I used --show and it says the Hash is cracked, but cannot find plaintext anywhere. 4.I even made sure the output was to a -potfile. 5. I used hashcat , same thing happend. 6. Ive obtained the hash from a Windows10 password I Know and purposefuly put it in the wordlist, and it says Password hash Cracked but cannot find the plaintext with -Show or in the Potfiles.

Whats going on? What am i doing wrong? The main goal is to crack a windows 7 Password and get the plaintext.(Yes i know about chntpw its not about gaining access, i specifically need the plaintext.)

Any tips/suggestions/criticism is greatly appreciated. -Thanks everyone
