As mentioned in the title, I’m a gentleman in a wheelchair in need of a daytime caretaker/nurse. It’s just my mother and I and we haven’t had any day time help in 2 years. We’ve been trying to go through my insurance for so long but there’s just no home health nurses in my area, and the ones that we met through a company didn’t want to make the drive to where we live. My mother is starting to have her own health problems that she needs to take care of, on top of being the awesome caretaker that she is, she really needs and deserves a break.
I have a trach and on a ventilator so ideally looking for someone with at least a CNA, LVN, or some type of medical experience but we are also willing to hire someone with little to no experience as long as they are willing to learn the appropriate skills to take on the job. You’ll be helping with activities of daily living mostly but the main things that are needed to be known is airway clearance and how to change my trach out in the event it gets occluded, by no means are any of them hard unless you’re squeamish lol. I am 420 friendly and use it for my chronic pain and anxiety so I would like you to at least be okay with helping me medicate if you yourself don’t partake. I’m honestly looking for someone who would be comfortable with doing bucket list type things and going out on adventures on my good days, I want to check out museums, see sights worth seeing, and just getting out of the house in general and giving mom space/alone time or a chance for her to go get a spa day when she wants. I also want to start exercising more so having someone who can help me strengthen and stretch would help me in so many ways it could very well reduce my chronic pain and being stronger where I have movement remaining would make a worlds of a difference. Painting is also something I’m really interested in but have never had the time or help and I’d like to write/read more so having someone to motivate me towards taking on those things instead of staying on my phone or watching tv is always a plus lol.
Hope to hear from a potential fit sometime soon and I’m sure we’ll get along great if your interest has been caught, thanks for taking the time to read this far.
