I've got a predicumrnt that I'd like some advice on please. I'm due to move next month to a 3 bed bungalow. I am currently in a one bed apartment and I have a 11 year old son who stays with me 2 nights per week but I'm hoping to extend that to 3 or 4. My elderley father is also coming to stay and he has mobility issues and he's moving back from Italy due to this and he will have around 3k saving which he will be using for food etc until he can claim some form of income support and sort his disability issues out. Because he's moving back to the UK he has to pass the Habitual residence test before he can get any help. This could take a minimum of 3 months. The new place I'm due to move to is £75 a month more and literally 500 metres from my son's school which is ideal. I'm currently living a mile away The tenancy on my new place appears not to permit some one to stay more than 3 weeks at a time but I'm hoping this is just a general clause and my father is able to stay. If it does cause an issue he is able to go live with his sister.
I told my current neighbour I was moving who is in her 60's and she said she was thinking of renting her 2 bed apartment to me while she moved into her friends place because he has Alzheimer's and it's getting worse. He is in his late 60's early 70's and has being I'll on and off. It's tempting because it's cheaper but the problem is that if this gentleman passes away she would need to move back with little notice I'm assuming. Plus it's only 2 bedroom so my father would either have to stay in the room or take the 2nd bedroom which would leave my son sleeping with me and it's not within walking distance of his school. The new place is a semi detached with a drive and garage, garden plus separate kitchen. The apartment I'm in and my neighbours have the kitchen in the room which I dislike.
Guess I'm just nervous of the move but I have been contemplating my neighbours offer although looking at it closely it's probably not idea but within my comfort zone.
What do you guys think?
