Rewire required for house that i'm buying advice
Post Body

Hi all,

Currently in the process of buying a 3 bed circa 1930's house. The electric report came back at unsatisfactory and essentially advises that a rewire is required (and remedy a few other areas of the electrics too), with a quote to repair/bring back up to standard around £3900 VAT.

I asked the sellers if they would reduce the purchase price by the above cost for which they said no, as they feel they shouldn't not be covering your (your as in me/buyer) redecoration costs or for works to bring anything up to date, given the age of the property but do acknowledge that the survey was unsatisfactory and wish to contribute towards this with a sum of £2000.

Has anyone else had a similar issue before that could offer any advice on best way forward as i'm a bit unsure on best way forward. Thank you.
