As someone who has largely enjoyed this season and defended it against claims of being "too slow," I was underwhelmed by this finale, and the reason is simply because this wasn't meant to be a finale.
It is quite clear this was meant to be the 8th episode of a proper 10 episode season. The final moments set the stage for an explosive finale stretch of the season. And in that context, this episode would have been very exciting. Viewers would be hyped for the next episode.
But because 8 episodes has become the new normal in the streaming era, this season was cut short against the wishes of the creators. For whatever reason (probably to save money, WarnerDiscovery is in dire financial straits now), the higher ups demanded a shorter season. The creators will say this was the right call, but they are playing politics. S2 was meant to be 10 episodes, and this "finale" makes that abundantly clear.
And now because of this decision, instead of being hyped, I and many others feel blue-balled. The pacing is ruined now, because the final half of this season hasn't built up to anything. It left us hanging just as it was about to pull the trigger.
So if this finale disappointed you, this is why. It's not a finale. The season was quite literally cut short. And that just sucks.
