Actually, happy "found day" River is more accurate! 6 years ago today I found my greatest friend & the all-time sweetest pup (no, seriously, your's is not). Despite really being too young to wean he had been dumped. I just happened to catch the glint of eyes in my headlights & found this tiny little hound dog puppy laying next to the river we live on. Even though he was near death from exposure & starvation, he came right to me and...smiled! He's been unimpeachably loyalty ever since. The only lasting effect is a bit of separation anxiety, but I think it's more he needs to know I'm ok than anything else. Now his days follow a predictable pattern of; sleeping late burrowed under the covers>morning sniff recon around the neighborhood>couch nap>howl at the mailman for waking him up>braying practice in the yard>tree anything that dare move>pick up his human siblings from school>get pets from 300 kids (not 299)>pre-predinner nap>predinner nap>dinner>burrowing back under the covers to do it all again tomorrow!
