I wanted to reach out and get some insight from anyone who may have experience with a situation similar to mine. My wife (34, 5’6”, 120 lbs) and I have recently entered into a new dynamic, and she has a new partner (40, 6’2”, 220 lbs), who is a retired military veteran (USAF). While my wife has shared some basic details with me, she hasn’t been super open about everything, which I understand and respect. That said, I’m left wondering what to expect moving forward, especially given the unique nature of this situation.

I imagine there are people out there who have experience navigating relationships involving retired military personnel, or even those who’ve been in a similar dynamic to ours. I’m particularly curious about how the military background might influence things—whether it’s behavior, communication styles, or even adjusting to life outside of that structured environment.

I’d love to hear from anyone who has been through something like this or has knowledge of how to best approach these kinds of transitions. Any advice or experiences you’d be willing to share would be greatly appreciated. I’m just trying to get a better understanding of what I should expect and how to navigate this in the most supportive way possible.
