How to get over rejection

Me and my wife had our first experience a few weeks ago. It was amazing. We both were so turned on from it all and super excited to do it again. She made plans last week to meet up with the same guy yesterday. She bought lingerie. Went and got her hair done. Shaved. All dressed up. Text him that she’s on her way and he cancels. My wife feels bad and rejected. I feel angry for someone canceling last minute like that. Makes us just completely turned off from ever trying again. How do we move forward from here and should we even try to continue?
